Interview with Dingpu MRT Station

Interview with deputy station manager Lin,Jia-Ming

Q: Have you encountered any trouble from the construction process of Dingpu Station and how did you solve it?

A: The land we excavated for Dingpu Station was very hard and so the Department of Rapid Transit Systems used advanced equipment for mining and excavation.

Q: The MRT construction required road control and caused noise, how did you communicate with the residents?

A: We held briefings and discussed with local residents to upgrade the construction schedule and progress. We asked for their understanding if there was influence on the surrounding environment. They could reflect any problems during the construction to the Department of Rapid Transit Systems and the special window of the Department will handle these problems.

Q: During which hours of the day is Dingpu Station most crowded?

A: The peak hours are from 7am to 9am in the morning and 5pm to 7pm in the afternoon for people getting to or leaving work and students going to and leaving school.

Q: Could you please introduce us with the design concept of Dingpu MRT Station? What are the characteristics?

A: The theme of our station is "Node Code - C Program." This place used to be mining zone for Haishan Mine and hence the image of Haishan Mine is adopted. Now it is the high-tech park and hence we adopt nano carbon as the image. Our public art is the "Eye of Hall." Currently we are located on the hall level and the next level is the platform, which introduces the natural lighting of the ground into the hall, resulting in halo for the platform, corresponding with the lighting and light wall in the hall level.

Q: There are four exits for Dingpu Station. Why did you design these exits on these places?

A: The Department of of Rapid Transit Systems designed and took various conditions, before discussing with the local residents and determining these exits.

Q: How will Dingpu MRT Station connect with Sanying Line in the future?

A: We knew that there was Sanying Line when we were building the station and so we built a co-structured building on Exit No. 3. That is, it will connect to our Bannan Line after transfer. There will be automobile and scooter parking space, bus turnaround and waiting area for taxi.

Q: .Has any foreign tourist visit Dingpu area via MRT?

A: Not many foreign tourists visit here because of bus availability. In general, foreign tourists choose to get off Yongning Station, where there are buses that get on the highway directly, which is faster and more convenient.

Q: What is your job description? Could you please guide us through Dingpu MRT Station?

A: Selling tick, fare adjustment, handling station equipment anomaly, providing services for visually impaired passengers, and assistance with lost and found. Basically I have to handle almost everything. I can surely guide you through the station.

Q: We have a hand-drawn tour map that we would like to offer them on MRT for visitors. What can we do?

A: You can contact with our customer service and apply from there. Our company will review the data and will place your maps on the display shelf in the station after approval.
